How to make a free Tiny Desk AI video
Try one free 4-second Tiny Desk AI video with a new verified account. See photo tips, band roles and prices for paid 4-second and 17-second videos.
MemeRecast’s free Tiny Desk AI video generator lets new verified accounts try one 4-second band video in 480p. No card is required. Upload a photo for each performer you want to replace and turn the “Outstanding” desk-concert meme into your band.
For a full 17-second video, choose any one to five performers: the lead singer, keyboard player, either backing singer or sax player. Full videos are paid options in 480p or 720p. Unselected roles keep the source performers, and each output uses the source clip’s soundtrack.

Try Tiny Desk AI free with a 4-second band video
Try the free Tiny Desk AI preview. The offer covers one 4-second, 480p video for a new verified account. It is a one-use discount on that video, so it does not add credits to your balance. You can verify your email when asked, or use a verified Google account.
The short clip includes the keyboard player and both backing singers. Replace any one to three of those performers. The lead singer and sax player are available in the full 17-second video. Both lengths use the original soundtrack.
After your free trial, another 4-second, 480p clip costs 20 credits ($2.00 USD). Full 17-second videos cost 50 credits ($4.98) at 480p or 100 credits ($9.98) at 720p. Review the quote before generating; credit packs can change the effective amount you pay per video.
Watch the original and the generated example
Start with the Tiny Desk source meme and example. The comparison shows the viral coaches meme excerpt alongside an approved AI-generated version with five fictional adult musicians. The source meme is itself AI-generated; it is not unedited NPR concert footage. The generated example is native 480p; it is not a demonstration of 720p quality.
Example videos show a memerecast.com watermark. Your downloads have no MemeRecast watermark.
Both clips last about 17.67 seconds. The product uses the shorter label “17 seconds.” The excerpt starts with the band together, moves to the lead singer and sax player, then returns to the band. The opening solo-only frames are excluded. Appearance, small details and movement can vary between AI results; watch the whole example with sound before deciding what to make.
1. Choose who joins the band
Open the Tiny Desk AI generator and choose the clip length. The 4-second preview shows the keyboard player and two backing singers. The 17-second version also includes the lead singer and sax player; you can replace any one to five performers without selecting the lead.
The original performers stay visible beside their upload boxes. Drop a photo onto a role to replace that person. Drag replacements between roles to move or swap them, or use Move on a touch screen or with a keyboard. Leave a role unchanged to keep the original performer.
| Role | Where to check the result |
|---|---|
| Lead singer | Front of the band and the singer’s close-up. |
| Keyboard player | At the keys, including the foreground of the sax shot. |
| Left backing singer | The backing position marked left in the role picker. |
| Right backing singer | The backing position marked right in the role picker. |
| Sax player | The saxophone close-up and the ensemble shots. |
Use the role picker’s positions to tell the two backing singers apart. A group photo is not a substitute for the individual role uploads. Check each person’s photo against the selected role before confirming; this mapping tells the generator who belongs in each seat.
2. Prepare one clear photo per selected person
Use photos you own or have permission to use. Each upload should show one human subject, with an unobstructed face, even lighting and enough detail to recognise them. A clear half-body photo helps show clothing and build as well as the face. Avoid sunglasses hiding the eyes, heavy filters, tiny faces and overlapping people.
Uploads accept JPG, PNG or WebP, up to 8 MiB and no more than 6,000 pixels wide. Smaller photos are accepted; choose a clear original when available. Upload one file for every selected role. Animal-only and object-only subjects are not supported by this customer workflow.
A good reference helps, but it does not guarantee exact facial likeness, identical clothing or perfect mouth movement. The saxophone and keyboard can obscure parts of the body. If a small accessory matters, check whether it survives the full performance rather than judging a single frame.
3. Choose a free preview or a paid full-length video
The free trial is one 4-second, 480p band clip for a new verified account. For a full 17-second video, choose 480p or 720p and any one to five selected performers. The table below shows regular prices before any free-preview discount. Check the credit charge and payment quote before starting a paid attempt.
| Duration | Resolution | Credits | Pay for one video (USD) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 4 seconds | 480p | 20 | $2.00 |
| 17 seconds | 480p | 50 | $4.98 |
| 17 seconds | 720p | 100 | $9.98 |
These single-video prices assume no existing credits. Your balance reduces the amount to buy; the generator shows your final quote. A minimum top-up may leave unused credits in your account. The price is the same for any one to five selected roles in a 17-second video, or any one to three supported roles in the 4-second band clip.
480p is the resolution shown in the approved 17-second public example. That comparison demonstrates the full-length template; it is not a separately generated 4-second trial result. 720p provides a larger output frame; it does not promise closer resemblance or more accurate motion. Credit packs are also available. Paid credits do not expire, and there is no subscription or automatic top-up.
Sign in when asked, confirm permission to use the photos, and review every role assignment before generating. Keep the existing job open if you are unsure whether a request started; starting another request can create a separate paid attempt.
4. Watch, download and share
Follow progress in My videos. You can leave the page and return with the same account. When the result is ready, watch the full clip with sound. Check the selected faces, the backing positions, the instrument shots and the transition back to the band.
The final video uses the source excerpt’s soundtrack. Generated motion may not match every syllable or instrument movement exactly. Label AI-generated parody clearly when sharing, and do not imply that the people shown performed, endorsed or participated in a real concert.
Customer uploads and results are private to your account. Uploaded photos are retained for up to 48 hours, and videos for up to seven days after the generation request starts. Download videos you want to keep before they expire. Approved public examples, such as the fictional band on this page, are separate from private customer uploads. Read the privacy policy for details.
Where does the Outstanding Tiny Desk meme come from?
The format draws on Charlie Wilson’s “Outstanding” Tiny Desk performance. You can watch NPR Music’s official Charlie Wilson: Tiny Desk Concert for the original performance context. The AI meme recasts the musicians in a short desk-concert scene; it is distinct from the original concert recording.
MemeRecast is not affiliated with NPR or the original performers. The public five-person example uses generated fictional adults. A source link identifies the inspiration and does not imply endorsement.
If a generation fails or the result needs help
Check the existing job in My videos before making another attempt. A confirmed technical failure restores the free-trial offer or the credits used for that attempt. An uncertain provider outcome needs review before you start another submission.
For a completed video that needs help, email support@memerecast.com with the video link, your account email and a specific description of the issue. Refund requests require a reason and are reviewed individually; sending a request does not automatically issue a refund. See the terms and refund-request policy.
